Outcomes

Item 1: Update from previous meeting – Neville informed the team that WCM has now been officially recognised as a User Group by the Wikimedia Foundation under the name of Wikimedia Community User Group Malta.

Item 2: Mediawiki discussion – A change in email address has been recorded, with the new contact email for WCM being mailatwikimalta.org. A discusion on the differences between a User Group status and Thematic Organisation/Chapter status arose, with WCM’s User Group status seen as the initial step towards further development.

Item 2: Mediawiki discussion – The need for outreach to other Malta-based Wikimedians was dicussed. It was suggested that WCM approaches editors and administrators on Wikipedija and WikiProject Malta to discuss the possibility of them collaborating with WCM.

Item 3: – Wiki Loves Monuments – Neville mentioned his meeting with the international WLM organising committee. It has been agreed that rather than restricting eligible entries to Valletta and its surroundings, all registered monuments in Malta will be eligible. Neville has compiled a list of monuments identified by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage. He is in touch with the Superintendence to obtain geographical coordinates for all monuments.

Item 3: – Wiki Loves Monuments – The need to identify jurors was raised. A brainstorming session was held, where a number of names were brought forward. These individuals will be approached in the coming days and announced through the project page.

Item 3: – Wiki Loves Monuments – A landing page for WLM 2016 in Malta was created in Wikimedia Commons. This will be the first point of contact for people participating in the competition, and it will be the interface through which participants upload photos.

Item 3: – Wiki Loves Monuments – A press event launching the project and announcing WCM’s status as a User Group is planned for the morning of Friday 2nd September. An introductory workshop is then planned for early September.

Item 4: Accounts & Administration – Nothing to report

Item 5: Other matters – The next meeting is planned for Wednesday 14th September.
