An edit-a-thon (sometimes written editathon) is an organized event where editors of online communities such as Wikipedia and M3P edit and improve a specific topic or type of content, typically including basic editing training for new editors. They often involve meetups, but can be distributed as well. The word is a portmanteau of “edit” and “marathon”.
Wikimedia Community Malta organizes edit-a-thons annually and they are announced on the main page of this website and our social media platforms.

Meet-ups
WCM also organizes informal meetups, which sometime lead to edit-a-thons.
Past meetups
Face-to-face meetings of Wikipedians used to take place in Malta every 4-8 weeks. These were suspended in line with WMF Covid-19 guidelines in 2020, moved online, and eventually phased out in favour of a more structured annual programme of activities, which naturally does not exclude future meet-ups or ad hoc gatherings.
